Our client is a well-established construction company based in Cork, currently seeking a qualified Accountant to join their team on a maternity leave contract. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with strong accounting experience in the construction sector. RCT (Relevant Contracts Tax) experience is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including AP/AR and bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly management accounts and financial reports
- Ensure full compliance with tax obligations – particularly RCT, VAT, and PAYE
- Oversee subcontractor payments and submit RCT returns
- Support project managers with cost reporting and budget tracking
- Assist with year-end accounts and audits
- Maintain accurate financial records and contribute to process improvements
Requirements:
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in the construction industry
- Strong working knowledge of RCT and subcontractor compliance
- Familiarity with Irish tax legislation
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Sage, QuickBooks, or similar)
- High level of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Salary & Benefits:
- €40,000 – €45,000 annual salary
